Blueprint Scanning. Old Plans, As-Builts, and Maps, Scanned and Reprinted.

When the paper set is the only copy, bring it to the counter in Port Charlotte. We scan the full sheet at large format, reprint it clean, full size or 11×17, and email you the scanned file at no charge.

The Paper Is the Only Copy.

A lot of what gets built on in Southwest Florida was drawn before anyone saved a file. The original plans for a 1980s house, the as-builts for a utility run under a slab, a survey that’s been folded into a property file for thirty years. When an addition, a remodel, an insurance claim or a permit resubmittal needs those sheets, the paper is all there is.

Office copiers stop at 11×17, and phone photos come out skewed and shadowed. A large-format scanner holds the sheet flat, lights it evenly, and captures the whole thing in one pass. Then we put it back on paper the same way we print everything else.

What You Leave With

You bring

You leave with

The paper original

The original back, a clean reprint (full size or 11×17), and the scanned file by email, free

The original, and you want the file on a drive

All of the above, plus the file on a thumb drive for $10

Email is the default and costs nothing. A scan prints sharp at the size it was scanned, so we reprint at the original sheet size or reduce it to 11×17.

What We Scan

  • Old blueprints and plan sets, including faded and damaged sets going back to the 1980s
  • As-builts and record drawings: utility, drainage, and site work that only exists on paper
  • Surveys, site plans, and maps
  • Marked-up field sets, so the redlines get back to the engineer instead of sitting in the truck
  • A field set that didn’t survive the job: rain, mud, the truck bed. Bring in what’s left and we’ll rebuild the set

Bringing In Old Originals

Roll It, Don't Fold It

Every new fold is a new crack in an old sheet. Roll the set to bring it in.

Don't Tape the Tears

Tape yellows, bleeds through, and pulls old paper apart. The University of Illinois Library's preservation guide lists it first among the mistakes that damage drawings.

Take the Binding Off

A stapled or strip-bound set has to come apart to scan. Tell us at the counter if yours can't.

Blueprint Scanning FAQ

Can you scan old blueprints and reprint them?

Yes. Bring the paper original to the counter in Port Charlotte. We scan the full sheet at large format and reprint it clean, full size or 11×17. Faded and damaged sets going back to the 1980s are normal here. Call 941-212-1707 first if the originals are fragile.

Do I get a digital copy of the scan?

Yes. We email you the scanned file at no charge. If you want it on a thumb drive, that's $10.

Why not just take a photo of the plans with my phone?

A phone photo is skewed, shadowed, and too low-resolution to print usefully at 24×36. Small text is the first thing to go. A large-format scanner holds the sheet flat and captures it evenly, which is what you need for a usable reprint.

Can you deliver the reprints?

Yes. Job site delivery covers Charlotte (including North Port), Sarasota, Lee, and DeSoto counties, and FedEx 2-day ships anywhere in Florida. The paper originals go back with you at the counter.
